System Administrator

Virtual IT ( is currently seeking an experienced System Administrator to fill a slot on our team. 

Job Summary

The position is responsible for assisting in daily tasks on our support desk, as well as assisting with proactive support in the Central Services role and assist the engineering position with project related tasks.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Reactively and pro actively support our customer base with the user of remote monitoring tools.
  • Assist the support desk to resolve escalated service tickets 
  • Monitor and manage customers backups, patching schedules, and monitor alerts.
  • Assist professional services department with engineering tasks as needed.


Qualifications and Skills


  • Advanced knowledge of Windows OS and PC hardware in a business environment
  • Understanding and experience in troubleshooting and configuring Microsoft Office programs
  • Understanding and experience in Windows Server OS and role configurations (Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Print management, Group Policy)
  • Understanding and experience in troubleshooting and configuring remote connectivity such as VPN, Remote Gateway, etc.
  • Understanding and experience of server hardware such as RAID, Drac, NIC configurations
  • Understanding and experience with VMWare ESXi and Hyper-V hypervisors.
  • Ability to document technical information in a quick but detailed manner.
  • Ability to display great communication and customer service skills to customer base by phone, email, and in-person.

Additional qualifications

  • Understanding and knowledge of Cisco and Meraki routing devices
  • Understanding of backup, replication, and recovery solutions (Veeam, ShadowProtect)
  • Automating processes using scripts or Powershell
  • Microsoft, Cisco, or VMWare certifications a plus.
  • Labtech and Connectwise experience a plus.
  • Ability to participate in on-call rotation for 1 week per month.
